Rising at my usual 3:00 AM, I’m reminded of the delicate dance between creativity and the business side of music. Today, it’s all about finalizing registrations for my lyrics and songs. While there’s a natural protection for writing, I’ve learned firsthand that it’s best to register your work with the US government.
The business side can often feel like a distraction from the creative process, so it’s no wonder many choose to outsource it. I’ve seen too many fellow storytellers and artists being taken advantage of in this industry. Despite being more seasoned than most, it still eats away at precious creative time and other priorities.
But here’s the thing—I crave freedom. I want to continue loving what I do as a hobby. I’m free, except from the government, of course. My encouragement to all is to don’t neglect the creative side of your minds. It’s incredibly liberating.
I find joy in sharing my messages, and the feedback from tests shows that it’s welcomed in many countries. And hey, my music isn’t just R&B and Hip-Hop; it’s a blend of pop, rock, southern hip-hop, and more. The spoken word in my poems is on the horizon, too. Stay tuned!
