Unfortunately, the Finals have come to a short end. It only took 4 games for the Warriors, a juggernaut team, to defeat LeBron and the lethargic Cavaliers. Now, LeBron has two options: he could either leave and go join a different team, or stay in Cleveland and most likely not even make the Finals.
LeBron is a superb basketball player, and he is even considered to be the best player in the world. Since he is a free agent this year, LeBron can join almost any team that he wants. Some teams, such as the Lakers and Rockets, are accepting new players on their team. The Lakers have enough cap space (the limit to the total amount of money an NBA team is allowed to pay their players) that allows two players to join their team, which leaves the door open for LeBron and another superstar, like Paul George, to become a part of the Lakers. Also, if LeBron joins the Rockets, he can sign a max contract that pays $35 million per year. In order for that deal to work, the Rockets have to re-sign Chris Paul and then correspond a maximum contract offer for Clint Capela.
In addition, LeBron can stay with the Cavaliers, and risk losing in the Finals again, or even losing in the playoffs. The only way for LeBron to stay in Cleveland is if the Cavs’ General Manager (GM) makes some major changes to their lineup; they can possibly trade multiple players to obtain a couple of superstars from other teams. But from past experiences, we know that the Cavs make inadequate decisions when it comes to building a good lineup. Although LeBron would love to stay in his hometown, he must decide what is best for his legacy, and that may have to result in him leaving the Cavaliers.
Whether he leaves or stays, LeBron will still be respected around the league. The fans in Cleveland will still respect him for whatever he decides to do because they know that he has contributed so much to the Cavaliers. Everybody knows that the Cavs will never be the same team without LeBron.
