ATLANTA – During their May 2 meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr., District 5, creating a Summer Youth Job Training program.
The new program will be funded through Fulton County’s allocation of funding through the American Rescue Plan Act, totaling $500,000. Through partnerships with nonprofit community-based agencies, the program will specifically provide opportunities for low income and at-risk Fulton County youth to gain professional skills and hands-on paid summer work experience for calendar year 2022. The program will prepare participating youth for future career opportunities by allowing them to explore career interests, set goals and make informed decisions about educational and training pathways to achieve those goals.
“At a time when there are seemingly endless job opportunities, it is important that we work to ensure that our youth are not left behind,” said Commissioner Arrington. “The goal of this program is to ensure that all youth in Fulton County are given opportunities now to help them prepare for the future.”
The application period for non-profit organizations to apply for program funding will begin in coming days. Non-profit organizations with experience implementing summer youth job training programs can check www.fultoncountyga.gov/youthjobtraining for updates.
